Today I basically just continue working on my drawings for my icons. I think I got 6 so far. I made each icon all very different but they all go with my theme of the Underwater Carnival look (well I hope).
And listen to music while I was drawing. It keeps me going =]
Yeah that's it..

Drawing time
Today I mainly worked on finishing drawing my icons. I hope they turn out good.

Day 22?
Today I just remembered that I need cotton candy. It plays a very important role in my portfolio menu.
So I started a new document and imported a cotton candy pic that I found earlier on in the year. After I put it on the stage, I locked the layer and created a new layer and started tracing the outline bag of the cotton candies.
Well can't wait til this Friday =]

Yay Friday! =]
Today I continued looking for sounds for my Interactive Resume and I have now about 30 sound effects files. Pretty sweet deal yo!
And then I tried to look for some Adobe Flash CS3 tutorials but I couldn't really find one for what I want. It's really hard to find at the moment.
Have a great weekend everyone! =]

Day 21-ish
Today there was a college visit from SAA. Yay! lol. I plan to apply there so I stayed a little behind to talk to the recruiter.
Then I continued looking for more sounds for my IRES. I found some pretty cool ones but I don't know if it will exactly go with it so I just saved it just in case.
After that I continued working on the popcorn animation. It didn't look right because it didn't look smooth. I also added in some more popcorn drawings using the black brush tool with the smallest size because it looked weird in the popcorn bag. I hid the bag layer so I could add the multiple popcorns.
Then I looked up some coding since I forgot how to do the ones I learned from last year haha.

Sounds
Today Mr. Fitzer asked the Inseparable Sams aka Sam Squared (Sam and I) to go back to the Mac and listen/obtain some sounds. There were some funny ones that made us laugh and some good ones for our IRES. Then after we finished looking back there, I looked on Adobe Soundbooth for some more sounds. That's where I found the bubble sounds.
I think I got about 3 for the carnival sounds. Mhm and 2 for bubble sound.
Yup yup. And I'm tired -_-

The Brain! O0ohh...!
The brain is a social brain.
We begin to be shaped as our immensely receptive brains/minds interact with our very early environment and within relationships. Vygotsky is partially responsible for noting the connection between social interaction and knowledge. Throughout our lives, our brains/minds change in response to their engagement with others -- so much so that individuals must always be seen to be integral parts of larger social systems.
The search for meaning occurs through patterning.
Patterning includes innate and acquired schematic maps and categories. The brain/mind needs and automatically registers the familiar while searching for and responding to novel stimuli. Therefore, the brain/mind is both scientist and artist, discerning and understanding patterns as they occur and giving expression to unique and creative patterns of its own.

Today I had to re-size all of the menu because it was too big. I just realized it too haha. But that I had to remove some keyframes and added a keyframe at the end to get all of it the same size.
Then I re-did my popcorn animation (finallly got it! So proud of myself haha..) I just took a section of the popcorn I wanted to be animated and put it into a movie clip and animate that. Then I added 2 more popcorn kernels by using the brush tool to the smallest size and filled it in with a pale yellow color. Then I did the same animation for the all the kernel/popcorn left.
Oh and I added the motion tween for all the frames that's being animated.

Day 19
It's snowing! =] Darn... =[ lol.
On this somewhat snowy day, I decided to continue working on animating my portfolio menu. I decided to first work on the popcorn coming down from the popcorn maker animations. I changed certain popcorn(s) into movie clips. I then tried to test it out but it didn't seem to work so I tried mutiple times but got the same outcome. So I tried re-do-ing it but it still didn't seem to work.
So I took a while trying to figure out what I did wrong.

Day 18
Today has been a very...quiet day. Probably cuz it's monday.
Anyways, I started to do more animations in my portfolio menu by putting the blinking eyes into a movie clip. I also did the same for the tentacles/arms of the octopus. It's much easier.
Then I decided to make the drink labels in separate buttons so when you click on it, it squirts out the drink for you. I just need to put the code in and draw the squirt-like stuff onto it later.
That's it for now since I didn't have much time.

Game Day! =]
Today I read online about Video Games & Art and Video Games & Familes. Here's my response below.
Video Games & Art
Video game design now art not only a design for themselves, but they influence other art forms. It is now also a cultural art that it is being taught in many universities for education and design. Video game design is now a popular art. It helps the movie industries influence their storylines and helps create a new form of partnership between them and the people of the entertainment software. It helps the relationship of movies and games to be expanded tremendously. Video games also help make creativity not only for visual arts, but for music as well. Contributing tracks into the video games also helps launch the artists.
Video Games & Family
Video games are a great source for families to come together and entertain themselves. Parent’s today seen that it is a positive thing and could help with improving their kid’s education. They also see it as a positive impact on their lives. It is a way for the whole family to get together and have fun and just hang out. Many parents and teachers would take advantage of this so they could use it for educational purposes. They think this will help the kids get a better education and have fun while doing so. It is also fun for every generation since there are different types of games that you can play and some for the mature and some for all ages. There is also a monitoring video games program that parents can use so that they can see what their child is playing. It will allow them to view what is right for them and what is not. They are being responsible of taking care of their children.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving break everyone! =]

Day 17
Today I just didn't feel like finishing my resume menu so I went back to my portfolio menu.
In my portfolio menu, I decided to animate the tentacles/arms of the octopus by using the selection tool to move the curves of the arms elsewhere to create an animation. I only did that a few of the tentacles. I also decided to animate the lovely looking eyes. I made one keyframe of where the eyes are blinking for one quick second then a few keyframes later, leave the eye open. Then add another keyframe of where it blinked again and let a few keyframes afterwards keeping the eye open. On the last keyframe, I pressed F9 for the coding and put a stop code inside so that it would let the eyes stay open.
I might change it later..

Sweet Sixteen! [Or Not..]
Today I helped finished framing the PTA Reflections so I didn't really spent that much time working on my Interactive Resume.
I started working with my resume menu and finished making the string of the balloon with the brush tool with the smallest size though. Then I added a new layer and made a light blue box with a low opacity on top of everything so it could create an ocean-ie feeling/look.
Here's what I got so far...

C'est Le 15th
Bonjour mes copains!
Today I worked on my next menu; resume. I got somewhat distracted which is why I didn't have much. And then Fitzer called me to help with the IMD promo video thing.
So all I did was make some balloons, filled it in with a gradient fill and duplicate the fish. And colored the cell phone.

Day Fo-teen [14]
Today I finished working on the porfolio menu. Woo-hoo...!.....

I finished coloring in all the machines (i.e. cash register, candy machine, soda machine) with a gradient fill so that it would create more effects/depth. At first it wouldn't let me fill it in with a bucket tool so I had to make the shapes a closed figure with the line tool. After that, I erased/delete the lines I create so that you wouldn't see it and it wouldn't be in the way. Also because I didn't need it anymore. I also did the same thing for the cash/money and the octopus' arms/tentacles.
Then I continued making more popcorns for the popcorn bag. I had to use the brush tool once again to make the small outlines of the popcorn and fill it in with a light yellow color with the bucket tool. Then I moved it inside the bag a bit.
Here's a close up of the lovely popcorn bag.

Here's what I have so far....

Cody and Zach suggested that I make a layer ontop of a blue overlay to create an ocean look/effect. So I made that by using the rectangle shape tool filled with a light blue color with a very low opacity.
Here's what it looks like with the blue overlay stuff that Zach and Cody suggested.

Lucky # 13
Today I continued working on my portfolio menu. I finish coloring in the popcorn with a yellow fill using the bucket tool once again. I also colored in the popcorn maker to a gray/silver color using the bucket tool but with a gradient fill to add more texture.
I also moved the arms/tentacles aside so that it will be out of the way and I can go find them later to animate it.

Day 12
Today I had to finish re-making my popcorn so I did that with the brush tool and filled it in with a yellow with the bucket tool.
After that I decided to make each of the arms/tentacles on separate layers so I can animate them later. Shortly after that, I decided to color the octopus by using the bucket tool but with a gradient color of purple and light blue/perwinkle so it could create more emotion and detail. I also changed the color of the candy bar to a gradient fill also so that it could have the same effect.
Then I decided to make a popcorn bag so that I could use that as one of my portfolio pieces and use that as a button. I used the line tool to create the shape of the bag. Then I used the line tool again to create more shape. After that, I used the bucket tool to color in the bag. I used the colors red with a lower alpha and white since it is mainly common on most popcorn bags. Then I used the oval shape tool to create a small logo on the center-front of the bag. Then I used the text to to create the logo/word.
Below is a picture of what I got so far. You like??

Day 11
Today my peer/classmate/friend Matthew 'evaluated' my porfolio menu so far. He says that the artwork is pretty good just that I need to add more color (which I will of course). He says the colors that used now are shiny which are good. He also suggests that I add more candy options. I think I'll do that. Also, he says I have a very good organization.
Well I had to highlight the whole menu and make it smaller because it was too big so once I did that, the popcorn disappeared. I tried to undo it multiple times to get it back but it never came back so I have to re-do it all over again!

IRES Day 9
Today I decided to just sticking to finish the portfolio first after I talked to Mr. Fitzer. He suggest that I fix the arms/tentacles (which I was going to do anyways) and have them appear lower so they can move around and make a sweet animation.
So for now, I hid the tentacles layers that I made so I can extend the head/body of the octopus to the edge. I then used the brush tool to finish making the popcorn and filled it in with a solid color.
Here's what I have so far...

IRES Day 8
Today I continued working on the basic outlines of my portfolio. I just took the pen tool and finished making arms/tentacles for my octopus. I think I should re-make them because they don't look so smooth. But here's what I got so far for it....

I decided to move onto the resume to finish working on that. I fixed the colors on my fish by filling in the colors with a gradient fill to create more effects on it. And to make it look cooler I guess.
I also colored in the shirt of the mermaid with an orange color but with the brush tool because the paint/fill tool wouldn't work. So it took me a little while to get that finished. So here's what I got so far....

IRES Day 7/ Week 1
Thursday we played a very interesting game which led me to not have time to update that day. And Friday was no school and Elijah's birthday. Happy late birthday to him! =]
Today I decided to go back to working on my portfolio. The one with the octopus. I continued using the WIACOM tablet to finish drawing the popcorn below. I also used the line tool to create the soda machine and the rectangle shape tool. After that, I used the pen tool to create the arms/tentacles of the octopus. I hid the candy so that you could see the tentacles/arm.

IRES Day 6
Today I continued working on the resume. The mermaid is still there but I still need to fill in the colors. The bucket tool wouldn't fill in the desired places so I used the brush tool with much time.
I also decided to trace the fish by using the pen tool once again. I used the gradient fill tool to create a better effect on the fish. And I quickly made some buttons on the cell phone I made. It will look like one due in time.
Here's my work so far...

IRES Day 5
Today I decided to take a break from working on my portfolio and start on my resume.
In my resume, I decided to start on the mermaid. I remember Mr. Fitzer telling me to take my time so that's why I only have the mermaid so far. I used the pen tool once again to trace the lines and used to bucket tool w/ a gradient color to make a better effect to show emotion.
Here's what I go so far. What do you think?

IRES Day 4
Today I continued working on my portfolio in flash. Once again I used the pen tool to trace most of the lines and this time I added some color. I used the gradient tool to add more effects. Especially in the eyes to create more emotion.
I also used the Whack-a-man-tablet(sp?) to draw out the little scribbles for the popcorn. I thought that'd would create more details if I used the thing to draw it out for future detailed tracing of the drawings.
Here's what it looks like so far. Pretty spiffy huh? xP

IRES Day 3
Today I decided to start tracing the outlines of characters and objects of my portfolio instead. I got frustrated with my main menu because I was rushing with it. So I put that aside for now.
Well here's what I got so far for my portfolio.

IRES Day 2
Yesterday I got back to tracing the outlines of my characters of my main menu in flash. But it didn't last that long because of a field trip we had.
Today, I also did the same thing but added more layers to each character so I can animate them later. Here's what I got so far...

IRES Day 1
Today I opened up my saved image of my IRES sketches in Photoshop to alter the contrast. Then I opened up Flash and imported the picture sketch of my main menu.
I started to trace the characters into each individual layers. And the objects around them. Here is what I got so far.
I only just started today so that's why it doesn't look so well.
